Landspeedr is a digital one-man show created by Sum. It explores the collision of culture, nature, technology and liberation. There is also a soundtrack. A hip-hop version of Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos” series, focused on demystifying police brutality. Landspeedr was nominated for a Mozilla Creative Media Award in 2020.

Project Summary: 

The Landspeedr web series is a mind-bending experiment in visual storytelling, released in short episodes and music videos. Hosted by series creator Sum, part of the format is familiar - inspired by variety shows like “Chappelle’s Show”, and “Patriot Act” with Hassan Minaj. Another part of the format is intentionally surreal, pulling from graphic novels, experimental gaming and East Asian cinema for aesthetic inspiration. The story submerges audiences in a world designed to demystify. Interactive elements live both within and outside the series. A soundtrack of original music accompanies the series, and leans into Sum’s native dimension of afrofuturist hip-hop.
